Recap of Mets game against the Boston Red Sox on Monday:
METS 1, RED SOX 1
at Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Monday, March 10
Mets at the plate: After seven innings of little action against Red Sox pitching, the Mets finally broke through when infielder Argenis Reyes hit a ground ball just softly enough to score Angel Pagan from third base. Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado, each returning from injury, finished a combined 0-for-5.
Mets on the mound: Santana's third Grapefruit League start was his most impressive to date. Against a Sox lineup filled mostly by reserves, Santana allowed only two hits, and -- for the first time this spring -- no runs. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter. Reliever Matt Wise added two shutout innings of relief, and Pedro Feliciano tacked on another.
Grapefruit League records: Red Sox 3-8-1; Mets 8-4-1
